“Very friendly and helpful staff, good beer/cider, tasty food with a good selection of wines.”
We are opening on Saturday 4th July at 9am for breakfast at The George! We will be putting in place the Government guidance to keep our customers and staff safe at all times. We ask that you help maintain this when you visit. We are trying to ensure everyone can enjoy The George as safely as possible and will be taking the following steps:
- Table bookings only, bookable by phone, email or through our website
- Reduced tables to allow for social distancing
- 2 hour table slots
- Extended food service hours
- A one way system though the building, entry through the front door, exit from the garden or bar door
- The smoking area will be in the car park, re-entry into the building through the front door
- Sanitising stations around the building and regular cleaning of all surfaces to ensure they are sanitised
We are going to continue takeaway and delivery, ensuring you can still enjoy our meal if you are unable to visit. We have extended our food service hours to all day every day, we hope this provides the opportunity for everyone to enjoy a meal, sandwich or snack safely. We will review all measures on a weekly basis so we can keep improving our service to you whilst ensuring your safety is our first priority.
We thank you for your continued support and look forward to seeing you soon!

“Room comfortable with good bed. Good Wi-Fi. Bar area very pleasant, good draught beer. Breakfast was well-prepared, tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful.“
“Thoroughly enjoys my stay in The George hotel. Warm welcome upon arrival, lovely clean room and comfortable bed. Evening meal was absolutely delicious (probably the best burger I’ve ever had!) and the full English breakfast the next morning was spot on. Highly recommend.”
“I stayed at this charming pub with rooms for a midweek stay and couldn’t have been more impressed. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable with everything you need for a relaxing stay. It was nice and quiet overnight and I got a great night’s sleep. The food throughout was delicious. Chris and his team made me feel very welcome and this is a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside, would certainly recommend!”
“I was part of a party celebrating St Georges Day with a lunch. There were about 34 of us.
I thoroughly enjoyed the food which was superb particularly considering the numbers. Asparagus with a poached egg and Hollandaise sauce, followed by excellent roast beef with all the trimmings and then apple crumble. Everything was delicious.”
“We were a rather large group booking and can’t thank the owner enough for all his help and how understanding he was. Our group was made up of people who had arrived from multiple countries to attend a funeral and wake so arrived at different times. Myself and sister arrived at 1am after getting in from Heathrow and this was not a problem. Dinner and breakfasts were all really tasty and very well organised. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble including catering to some rather fussy eaters. Thank you so much for looking after us all, you deserve a break now!”
